ACM Creative Consulting has provided a host of workshops that mentor organizations and individuals on improved practices in business and theatre operations, applying cross-sector skills to strengthen empathy, efficiency, and impact. Providing both theatre and business/corporate services, business skills are used to improve theatre organizations, and applied theatre skills improve business operations.
Leading with compassion, connection, and curiosity, ACM Creative Consulting challenges workshop participants to shift their perspective and explore nuanced ideas, bravely taking risks that facilitate growth, and graciously invest in their fellow humans.
Acting the Song
A three-part class for high school performers to integrate acting fundamentals into musical theatre technique. Attendees develop and apply the necessary dramatic craft for nailing the Broadway show-stopper that they’ve always wanted to perform.
Approaching Directing
What role does the director play in the theatre? What is a Director’s Concept and how is it developed and utilized? How does one lead an artistic team as they collectively bring a script to life? Workshop attendees explore these questions and more. Using a sample script, the workshop leads aspiring directors through the journey of first contact with a text to visualizing, communicating, and activating a piece of theatre.
Cracking Strategic Prospection with the Actors' Formula
An interactive workshop utilizing script analysis as an applicable tool to transform the nonprofit approach to strategic planning. Participants explore the building blocks of applied acting, guided visioning, and complex prospection to unlock new tactics for longterm planning and creative problem solving.
Hitting the Target
An engaging workshop to help storytellers activate their language and project the tale to a large audience. Building off of theatre technique, attendees engage in a number of exercises that stimulate verb use and specify the imagery of their story.
Improv for Leadership: Cultivating a "Yes, And" Culture
An interactive workshop utilizing improvisation as an applicable tool to transform reaction, adaptation, and communication skills. Participants explore the building blocks of applied improv and unlock a new world of respectful collaboration, leading to better communication for better service.
Making It Work: Auditioning and Professional Issues
An educational workshop covering auditioning techniques and professional development, theatre as a business, material selection, professional presentation, navigating agents, unions, and audition calls, and how to make a living as an artist.
Shaping the Monologue
A three-part class for high school performers to hone skills in order to perform dramatic monologues that display a full storytelling arc. Attendees select and sculpt a contemporary monologues through thoughtful dramatic analysis and application.
Telling Your Story: The Artist's Statement
A guided workshop to assist artists in creating a narrative about their artwork. Attendees engage in a series of exercises to ultimately draft an artist statement that informs others understand how the artist sees their art, what it expresses, and why.
The Sensational Imagination: Acting and the Five Senses
A three-part class that leads 8-12 year-old aspiring actors through sensory exploration and creative activities designed to access the senses and enhance the young actor’s toolkit.
